The S & T Application Engineer provides technical leadership and direction to the Product Business Team. Develop / introduce new systems and applications, safely improve system and application costs, quality, capacity, system and application design, system customer fitness for use and service. It is the primary technical communications link between the Business Team, the customer, the sales force, internal technical resources and the manufacturing plants.
Work Location: Shanghai
Travel: Frequent travel with OC facility network and to customer sites.
Functions and responsibilities:
1. Technically leads application development program, this includes:
• Providing project leadership of cross functional teams including schedule, resources and budget.
• Clearly define customer’s needs and expectations, maintain CFFUs (Customer Fitness For Use), CPCs (critical system and application characteristics), and QRS (Quality Rating System)
• Track the competitor’s and our systems and applications, keep eyes on marketing and technology changes, develop application specific technical SWOT analysis to Business team for strategic decisions.
• Improve application quality to continue meet our customer’s expectation while improve application cost with “Waste Free” design concept. |
2. Provides R&D with market-driven input (revenue potential, market characteristics, application definitions) for systems and application development strategies, utilizes project management practice to cross function team, this includes:
• Clearly define customer’s needs and expectations, develop CFFUs, CPCs, test methods and QRS.
• Develops and communicates the project charters with boundaries, objectives, deliverables, timing and impact to the business as well as assists in the completion of Business Case Justifications.
• Works with Process / manufacturing engineers to ensure those CPCs are delivered, and track the systems and application with the contractors and customers to ensure customer’s expectation are met. |
3. Participates in identifying, assessing and/or implementing strategic collaborations, application acquisitions, and/or joint marketing activities to achieve revenue targets and execute marketing strategies.
4. Works with sales organization to execute marketing strategies and ensuring sales teams’ needs for sales support material and training are met.
5. Provides technical support to customer complaints.
6. Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Requirements:
• Demonstrated track records of success in plant operations and project delivery. Experienced in leading a technical team to get step change business results.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in leading team members to set and meet key milestones, and be able to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels within the organization. Excellence in execution: outcome focus, enable speed,
resilience, action oriented, resources deployment & time line management.
• Be able to capitalize on relationships with other companies, leverage existing products and solutions, and assess a wide range of technologies that exist in the industry and academia to speed up solution development and commercialization to market.
• Demonstrated strong project management and team building skills. Be able to coach and manage team members in multi locations and multi cultures
• Has wealth of knowledge in various building materials processes and the related manufacturing methods. Stays in touch with the best practice and leading technology in the industry.
• Understand the local culture and be able to leverage capabilities in local universities and institutes.
• Be able to work with a team of plant leaders in BMAP and MSE/MTE in US, and provide guidance to team members.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety.
• Love to raise the bar of performance of self and of the team members.
QUALIFICATIONS: |
• BS Engineering (MS Preferred) in civil, structural, or architecture
• Job-site experience and CAD skill are needed
• Building Science and Application Knowledge required
• Documented successful track record in application development
• Trouble Shooting, Root Cause Analysis & Quality Systems
• Analytical Capabilities
• Proven ability to provide application assessment & Application Recommendations
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of responsiveness
• Experienced in experimental design and problem solving techniques
• Significant customer interaction experience
• Ability to work independently and foster a team environment in a fast paced environment
•Six sigma experience (Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred)
